Hi, I'm Carrie Benson! Long story short: I am caring, empathetic, and passionate about helping support and empower people to live their healthiest lives- mind, body, and spirit; especially postpartum! I love postpartum planning and helping support families in their homes after they have a baby.
Long story long: I've always known that my passion is helping people so after taking a sociology class with a social worker in high school, I decided I would go to college for social work.
While in school, I learned a lot about systems theory which helps explain how people interact with their environment. I graduated from Buena Vista University in 2013 with my Bachelor's in Social Work. I worked in the social work field with families in Sioux Falls for over 10 years.
A few years after graduating college, I went to a class about essential oils, started using them, and fell in love with them. Thus, begun my clean-living journey. I'm not perfect and would say I am "scrunchy"- somewhere between crunchy and silky.
In 2019 I had my first son with the support of a birth doula. I learned about the many benefits of a doula through that experience. As a new parent, I soon realized there are a lot of gaps in information and support for new parents.
In the fall of 2020, I took a Postpartum Doula workshop through DONA International and started my postpartum doula work here in Sioux Falls, SD. I also started working through DONA's rigorous certification process. In January 2022, I became a certified postpartum doula through DONA International. Click on the Postpartum Doula tab to learn more about what I am currently offering.
This combination of social work experience and essential oil experience has lead me to be a huge advocate in holistic health- looking at health as a whole- mind, body, and spirit, as well as the many societal factors that impact our overall health and well-being.
I want you to have a cozy, healing postpartum. I absolutely LOVE helping support you in this by postpartum planning as well as supporting you in your home postpartum.
